Lucille M. Earnest, age 89 of Deerfield, passed away at 3:55 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Woodlands at Robinson.
She was born February 8, 1921 in Deerfield, Ohio to Charles C. and Dorothy (Brunstetter) Notman and was a lifelong Deerfield resident.
Lucille worked as a clerk at Hayes Auction.
A member of Deerfield United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir until the age of 80; she was a member of United Methodist Women, Deerfield Sirenettes, Deerfield American Legion Auxiliary, and Deerfield Quilter's, life member of Deerfield Historical Society, Deerfield 8 & 40, and Deerfield Dandies Kitchen Band.
Mrs. Earnest was a member of the Deerfield Cemetery Association, and was instrumental in the building of the chapels at Deerfield and Hartzell Cemeteries.
Survivors include four children: Connie (Jim) Negley of Deerfield, Jim R. (Paulette) Earnest of Bristolville, William "Chuck" Earnest of Deerfield, and Terry L. Earnest of Deerfield; ten grandchildren, Kim, Chris, Beth Ann, Steve, Mike, Jill, Alana, Renee, Elisha and Tim; fourteen great-grandchildren, Grant, Andrew, Matthew, Jayme, Jessica, Heather, Jacob, Ashley, Mikie, Mason, Baylee, Mitchell, Colton and Delaney; one great-great-granddaughter, Alexis; sister, Helen Cowan of Diamond, and sister-in-law, Dolores Reese of Newton Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn J. Earnest, whom she married July 4, 1941, and who died in November 2000, brother-in-law, William Earnest and sister-in-law Lenore Earnest.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Deerfield United Methodist Church, with Rev. Don Booth officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Interment will be at Deerfield Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Deerfield United Methodist Church, or the Deerfield Historical Society.
