Lucretia Murarescu, age 91, of Alliance, died at 7:29 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born May 15, 1918 in Scorei, Romania to Miron and Maria (Muraru) Marcu.
Mrs. Murarescu was a member of the St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, the Ladies Auxiliary, and U.R. Transylvania.
She is survived by her daughter Gheorghina (Candit) Vulcu of Alliance; three grandchildren, Angela (Aurel) Bosca of Alliance, George A. Halmaghi of Houston, Texas, and John I. Vulcu of Spring, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Steven Bosca, Mary Jean (Harold) Leech, and Gabrielle Vulcu, all of Alliance; and one great grandchild, Brendon Leech.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, George P. Murarescu, whom she married in 1933; grandson, Petrisor Vulcu; sister, Aurica; and a brother, Aurel.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009 at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church with Fr. Pantelimon Stanciu officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. A Saracusta service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
