Lucy Harrison

Lucy Harrison, age 76, of Alliance, passed away at 6:45 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Salem Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 5, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio to John Hesser Armstrong and Dorothy (Hanner) Armstrong. Lucy was a graduate of Brecksville High School and she attended Bowling Green State University and Kent State University. She was co-owner with her husband, Gordon, of The Alliance Hardware Company until it's closing in 1999.
Lucy actively supported many community organizations with her time and talents. She was a member of the Alliance Historical Society, Alliance Quota Club, Calligraphers Alliance, the Stan Hywet Needlework Guild, the Alliance YWCA, Qui Vive, and the Alliance Garden Club.
Lucy was a compassionate participant with Al-Anon for many years and cherished the numerous meaningful friendships she made.
Lucy was passionate about her arts and crafts, and she extensively pursued painting, playing the organ, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, sewing, and creations with wood and paper. Her industrious hands were always productive, and she delighted in cooking abundant meals for her family.
She is survived by her children, Matthew E. (Nadine) Kassnel of Cleveland, Ohio, Terrance R. Kassnel of Loveland, Ohio, Pamela S. Kassnel of Massillon, Ohio, Jeffrey G. (Marilynn) Harrison of San Diego, California; five grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Gearhart of Orlando, Florida, and Merry Armstrong of Spokane, Washington.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon L. Harrison, whom she married on January 23, 1973 and who passed away August 30, 2013.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, February 28th at 7:00 p.m. at the Firehouse Theater, 450 East Market Street, Alliance.
