Ludivina (Lu) Peters age 87, formerly of Alliance, died at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at St. Luke Lutheran Community in North Canton.
A lifetime resident of Alliance, Mrs. Peters was born February 14, 1922 in Alliance to Jose and Casilda (Dominquez) Lopez-Garcia.
She was employed at Alliance City Schools as a library secretary before retiring in 1984; and was previously employed at England's Drug Store at Park and Main. Mrs. Peters formerly attended First Christian Church in Alliance. Lu was an avid reader. She loved reading, going to the library and keeping record of the more than 900 books she read.
Survivors include son, Kim Peters of Cleveland; daughters, Lynn Springer of Canton, Laurie Peters of Columbus, Janice Giovanini and Patricia Heckaman, both of North Canton; sister, Violet Niamtu of North Canton and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norman Peters whom she married May 3, 1943 and who died September 26, 2007; and one brother Israel Garcia.
Private Services will be held Friday with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. There will be no formal calling hours. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
