Lydia "Louise" Rhodes, age 95, of Mayfield Heights, formerly of Alliance, died at 5:55 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
She was born February 9, 1914 in Alliance to Beecher Rhinehart and Clara (Sandhagen) Rhinehart.
Mrs. Rhodes was a 1932 Alliance High School graduate and a graduate of Cosmetology School in Lakewood, Ohio. She managed a hair salon.
She was formerly a 48 year member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Women's Society at the church, and was currently the oldest active member of the Church of the Redeemer United Methodist Church in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She was also a former member of the Alliance Area Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Marcia Louise (John J.) Burke of Lyndhurst, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Bridget Louise Burke and John Trevor Burke.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Daniel Rhodes; one infant grandson, Sean Daniel Burke; and two sisters, Harriet Rhinehart and Ida Mouck.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Graham officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. prior to the service Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery. A Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Louise will be held at the Church of the Redeemer in Cleveland at a later date.
