Lynn Ann Branfield, age 71, of Port Richey, Florida and formerly of Alliance, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at her home in Port Richey.
She was born Aug. 1, 1935 in Alliance, Ohio to John B. and Nellie (Earp) Briggs and lived in Alliance most of her life.
A graduate of Mount Union College, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta; Lynn attended school most of her life, having received two Master's Degrees and also earned her Captain's License for a fifty-ton vessel in her 60's.
Mrs. Branfield was an elementary school teacher and guidance counselor, and being very passionate about education, wrote many grants for the schools in Beaufort S.C. Lynn was a former member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
She is survived by her three sons, Richard Branfield of Largo Fla, David (Debbie) Branfield of Port Richey, Fla, and Roderick Branfield of Beaufort, S.C.; three grandchildren, Amanda, Kaleigh, and Christopher; two sisters, Bonnie (Virgil) Stroia of North Canton, and Mary Beth Lauer of Alliance, and six nephews, John, Mark, Mike and Matthew Stroia, and Gregory and Eric Craig.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Edward C. Branfield, who died Dec. 8, 1978.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
