M. Dale Allison, born June 10, 1923 in the Alliance area, the son of Daniel M. and Ruby C. (Brogan) Allison, passed away Monday, October 22, 2007 at his home at the age of 84.
Having lived most of his life in the Alliance area, he graduated from Alliance High School in June of 1941. A banker most of his life, he retired in 1986 from the Charter One Bank formerly 1st Federal Savings and Loan bank.
As a long term member of Christ United Methodist Church, he sang in the church choir for over fifty years and was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class. He served the church on many committees and leadership positions. His love of music and singing led to his involvement in various barbershop quartets and the Alliance Barbershop Chorus. He also helped to organize the Alliance Community Concert Association and served as a former President. He was a member of the Alliance Kiwanis Club of which he was a past President and also a former member of the Mile Branch Grange where he sang in the National Champion Men's Quartet and also was a member of Conrad Masonic Lodge in Alliance.
Mr. Allison is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth (Ahrens) Allison; son, David (Jane) Allison of Greenville RI; daughter, Christine Allison of Canton; two grandsons, Scott (Claudia) Allison of Las Vegas and Shawn (Abbey) Allison of Chicago. He is also survived by his youngest brother, Paul (Glennie) Allison of Westville; sister-in-law, Betty Pool of Alliance; and brother-in-law, Robert (Mary Helen) Ahrens of Dallas, Tx. and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two older brothers, Donald Allison and Kenneth Allison.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October, 27, 2007 at Christ United Methodist Church located at 470 E. Broadway St, Alliance, Ohio with Rev. John Ferris officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be given to the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice, 885 S. Sawburg, Suite 106, Alliance Ohio 44601, Christ United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association P.O. Box 182039, Dept. 13, Columbus, Ohio, 43218-2039.
