Mabel M. Cope age 99 of Sebring, died at 2:25 p.m. Friday January 2, 2004 at Crandall Medical Center.
She was born September 27, 1904 in Atwater Township to Lorin Delbert and Maud (Andrie) Roath. Mrs. Cope graduated in June 1924 from Alliance High School, and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church since 1924.
She was also a member of Protheon Sunday school class, choir member and served on the music committee for several years, and was a member of United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Cope was a member of Alliance Music Study Club since 1926 and member of Chorale for several years. She was a member of Mount Union College Women's Club and served on their board. She was also a member and past president of Alliance Women's Club, member of UWCA, Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary, Alliance Chapter of American Red Cross, and served on the board and volunteered for blood donor program for many years. She was also a member of Sorosis and Qui Vive Clubs.
Survivors include one son Paul R. Cope of Minerva, Ohio, one daughter Patricia Ludwig of Hudson, Ohio, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul W. Cope, whom she married Oct. 8, 1924, and who died Nov. 4, 1988, one brother Harold and two sisters Mary and Helen.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Hookway and Rev. David Hostetler officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church Music Fund, 470 E. Broadway St. Alliance, Ohio 44601, or the charity of the donor's choice.
