Mabel L. Matz, age 94, of Sebring, died at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born May 9, 1916, in Canton, Ohio, to John and Emma (Leopold) O'berlin.
She was a graduate of Louisville High School and formerly employed at Ohio Drill & Tool and John Liber Meats.
Mrs. Matz was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church. She was past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star in Homeworth, member of the Washington Farm Women's Club and the Fairmount Grange.
Survivors include her children Shirley Armstrong of Punta Gorda, Fla., Sally (Elton) Reed of Boynton Beach, Fla., and David L "Bud" Matz of Homeworth; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marion "Sonny" Matz, whom she married March 28, 1941 and who died May 21, 1987; daughter, Bettijean (Robert) Metzger; and granddaughter, Shelley Ann Sutton.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Neil Orchard and Chaplain David Parry officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. An Order of Eastern Star Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at St. Israel Lutheran Cemetery in Paris, Ohio.
