Mamie R. Kannal, age 91, of Alliance died at 1:35 a.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Altercare of Alliance.
Mrs. Kannal was born May 16, 1916 in Navarre, Ohio to Harvey W. and Carrie (Lonas) Critchfield.
She was employed by Keener Rubber Company as a packer for twenty years until her retirement in 1978.
Mamie was devoted to her family and loved and enjoyed being with all of her grandchildren and will be sadly missed. She loved flowers, gardening, camping, fishing, picnics and the family gatherings, especially Christmas, when she got to see all her family.
She is survived by her four daughters, Joanne (George) Roberts, Beverly (James) Snyder and Carol Read, all of Alliance, and Janet Leeson of Edinburg, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 33 great- grandchildren; and 50 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ellis Leroy Kannal, whom she married December 28, 1932 and who died December 28, 1990; sister, Margaret Weirick and an infant twin sister, Marjorie Mae; two son-in-laws, Arnold R. Leeson and Norman L. Read and grandsons, Matthew Smith, Bruce Huff, Jim McCabe, Lenny Snyder and Rodney Kibler.
The family would like to thank Altercare and their staff for the care of their mother and all the many new friends she made, Harbor Light and also Rev. David W. Bloor and the Vine St. United Methodist Church.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Cusick of Lisbon Baptist Temple officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Akron Childrens Hospital, 1 Perkins Square, Akron, Ohio, 44308 or to the donor's choice of charity.
