Margaret (Peggy) Castina

Margaret (Peggy) Castina, age 80, of Alliance, passed away at 11:31 a.m., Friday, February 14, 2014 at Aultman Hospital.
She was born January 7, 1934, in Alliance, Ohio, to Robert and Margaret (Perkins) Williams
Mrs. Castina was a 1951 graduate of Alliance High School and employed as a cafeteria aid for fifteen years with the Alliance School System.
A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she was involved with the worship and music committee and the Eve Circle. She also served on the Alliance City Council for 6 years, volunteered with the American Red Cross, and was a former Girl Scout leader.
Mrs. Castina enjoyed doing needlework and watching the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns.
She was a member of the Stark County Democratic Committee, Alliance Democrat Club and precinct committee member, volunteering at the voting station, and member of the Sew Happy Quilt Guild, Alliance Symphony Band Board, Dante Club, and the Keep Alliance Beautiful committee. She was also a past member of the Alliance Band Boosters and Alliance Athletic Boosters.
Survivors include her sons, Ronald (Jill) Castina of Alliance, and David Castina of Kennett Sq., Pa., daughters, Vicki (James) Wiggs, Deborah (Dennis) Rhome, and Susan (Tom) Dimit, all of Alliance; grandchildren, Tony (Chrissy) Castina, Angie (R.D.) Britton, Andy (Stephanie) Castina, Jeremy (Bethany) Rhome, Gina (Josh) Falconer, Josh Rhome (fiancée, Janet Boyd), Michelle (Tim) Throckmorton, Michael (Jen) Wiggs, Derek Dimit (Megan Thomas), Brandon Dimit and Robert and Alex Castina; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carole Witzel of Winder, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene "Gene" Castina, whom she married October 25, 1952 and who died February 4, 2007; and a grandson, Jonathan Rhome.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Timothy Muse officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church Monday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
