Margaret Gibbons, age 89, of Alliance, died at 2:50 p.m., Monday, April 19, 2010 at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born August 10, 1920 in Alliance, Ohio to Thomas and Esther (Williams) Howells.
She was a member of the Alliance First Friends Church and the Friendship Sunday school class. She was also a member of the Alliance Area Senior Citizens and the 60 Plus Club. She loved to bowl and spend time with her family. Working with handicap children, she taught them how to bowl.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Etta Jorney of Alliance, Patricia Jones of Beloit, Charlotte (Gene) Bertolette, and Faith (Dan) Weaver, both of Alliance; seven sons, Wilson Thomas (Shirley) Gibbons of Canton, William (Linda) Gibbons of Newnan, Georgia, Jack (Marcie) Gibbons and Charles (Rosemary) Gibbons, both of Alliance, Gary Gibbons of the home, Larry (Shirley) Gibbons of Salem and Lawrence Gibbons of Alliance; 26 grandchildren; 40 great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 40 years, Wilson F. Gibbons, who died January 27, 1978; five sisters, Annie Watson, Esther Bane, Helen Graeff, Hazel Kelly and Alice Lucas; brother, Thomas Howells; infant daughter, Carol Jean; three grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Walter Jorney and Ernest Jones; and one daughter-in-law, Dianna Gibbons.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at Alliance First Friends Church with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday prior to the service at the church. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
