Margaret Stone

Margaret A. Stone, age 82, of Alliance died at 3:32 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center.
Mrs. Stone was born September 8, 1925 in Alliance to George H. and Fern (Kelly) Kotte and was a lifelong resident of Alliance. She was a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church.
She was a 1942 graduate of Alliance High School and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mt. Union College in 1946, extended her education at Kent State University and Akron University and received her certification in reading. She taught at State Street Jr. High in Alliance from 1946-1947 and then taught reading at Marlboro elementary school until her retirement in 1988.
Mrs. Stone was a past President of Jaycee-ettes, member of the Ohio Education Association and the National Education Association, Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, and the Alliance Woman's Club.
She is survived by her son, Attorney Stephen (Patricia) Stone of Alliance; daughter, Leslie and Attorney (Dean) Swift of N. Canton; granddaughters, Erin M. Stone and Attorney Kellie A. Swift; brother, Leo F. (Barbara) Kotte, of Alabama; and two longtime friends, Barbara Pierce and Louise Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Attorney Donald S. Stone, whom she married July 1, 1946 and who died December 17, 2004; and a brother George W. Kotte.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyte Wilhelm officiating. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
