Margaret M. (Suffecool) Montgomery

Margaret M. Montgomery (Suffecool), age 81, a lifelong resident of Deerfield, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Community Care Center in Alliance after a short illness.

She was born October 23, 1938 in Salem, Ohio, to Harold W. and Helen D. (VanWinkle) Suffecool.

Margaret was a 1956 graduate of Southeast High School and a 1960 graduate of Kent State University receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She was a teacher, homemaker and mother. She was also a farm partner with her late husband, Donald “Jim” Montgomery whom she married June 7, 1958 and who died July 1993.

She was a lifetime member of the Deerfield United Methodist Church and past president of the Women’s Society at Deerfield United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Beloit Village Gardeners, Sebring Country Club, and Gourmet Dinner Club.  She was also a 4H Advisor and Community Fundraiser Coordinator with the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include her children, Brad Montgomery of Beloit, Kyla (Doug) Frautschy of Dover and Kara Montgomery (Mike Yarian) of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Katelyn and William Frautschy of Dover; step-grandchildren, Corey and Kyle Yarian and four step-great grandchildren; and sister, Kathy (David) Cullen of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret, was preceded in death by her in-laws, John and Esther Montgomery, who were very special to her.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Palmyra United Methodist Church with the Rev. Insook Do officiating. Interment will be at Hartzell Cemetery.
