Margarita Valdez

Margarita Valdez, age 82, of Alliance, died at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Altercare of Alliance. She was born May 15, 1926 in San Marcos, Texas to Francisco and Matilde (Orozco) Valdez. Mrs. Valdez moved to Alliance in 1992 from Limaville, where she had lived since 1980, following her retirement. After her retirement she relocated to Alliance to be with her son, daughter, and grandchildren. Mrs. Valdez was originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, where she worked as a nurse at an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialty Clinic for Ear, Nose and Throat residents from Baylor University in Memorial Medical Center and at local Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialists for 30 years. While in Texas she was a member of the Deaf Research Foundation, Texas Society of interpreters for the deaf and self-help for the hearing impaired. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church and its Deaf Department and volunteered for the Juvenile Court (Brothers and Sisters). Mrs. Valdez was a member of the Alliance Evangelical Friends Church, the Branches Bible Study Class, Women's Missionary Fellowship, a member of the Stark County Tenant Association in Alliance, and a historian and volunteer of the Hart Apartments. Survivors include a son, Abiel Garry Moore, and a daughter, Isela Eunice Buehler, both from Alliance; four grandchildren Demian, Davida, Alvin, and John Buehler; six great grandchildren, Kelly, Madison, McKenzie, Dominic, Taylor and Raliegh; one great-great granddaughter, Nevaeh; three sisters, Aseneth Valdez of Austin, Texas, Berenice Kavanaugh of Peoria, Illinois, and Esther Valdez of Monterrey, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franciso and Matilde Valdez. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Alliance Evangelical Friends Church with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Alliance City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Deaf Research Foundation.
