Maria Albu Greavu, age 90 of Alliance, died at St. Joseph Care Center at 11:55 p.m. July 1, 2006.
She was born March 17, 1916 in Alliance, Ohio to Visalom and Lodovica (Gravilla) Albu and was a lifelong resident.
Mrs. Greavu graduated from Alliance High School in 1934 and was employed for more than 26 years at Alliance Manufacturing.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, and Circle 2 of the church. She was also a member of AARP, Alliance Manufacturing Retirees Club, and U.R. Transylvania Society.
Mrs. Greavu was proud of her Romanian Heritage and worked diligently throughout the years for the success of her church.
Survivors include two sons, P. Ronald (Linda) Greavu of Rudolph, Ohio, and Robert G. (Barbara) Greavu of Canton; four grandchildren, Ana, Renee, Jason and Sara; and two great-granddaughters, Audra and Emma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Peter Greavu, whom she married May 9, 1937, and who died May 23, 1989, one brother, George Albu, and one grandson.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church with Fr. Raymond J. Samolia officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, where Saracusta Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
