Marie Elizabeth Moser

Marie Elizabeth (McGary) Moser, age 103, passed away at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, 18-September-2018 at her home.
She was born 27-May-1915, in Markle, Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania to Alendar Labana and Margaret Etta (Gailey) McGary.
Marie married her husband, Ernest R. Moser, 12-June-1948 in Alliance, Ohio, at the First Reformed Church in Alliance.
A 1935 graduate of Allegheny Township High School, Marie earned her teacher Certificate from Waynesburg College, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. She taught one-room school for grades one to eight near Ford City, Pennsylvania in 1939, grade one in Pierpont, Ashtabula County, Ohio with Maralee Gruey, now of Alliance and long-time friend of 78 years.
She also taught Kindergarden at Riverside School and Liberty School in Alliance from 1946-1951 and 1961-1976. In the summer of 1943, she helped move the War Department into the Pentagon.
Marie was a member of the First Immanuel United Church of Christ and served as a Deacon on the Church Consistory.
She was a member of Alliance Chapter 296 Order of the Eastern Star and Palmy Chapter for 72 years, and member of the Alliance Area Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Marie Moser and son, Carl Ernest Moser.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest who passed away 2-February-2007; and brothers, William Gailey McGary, Alendar LeRoy McGary, Dwight McClain McGary and Joseph Fulton McGary.
Services will be held Monday 24-September-2018, at 11:00 a.m. at First Immanuel United Church of Christ, 208 E. Oxford St., Alliance, Ohio.
Visitation will be Sunday 23-September-2018, from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Immanuel United Church of Christ.
