Marilyn M. Brown, 87 of Alliance died at 9:55 am Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Alliance Community Hospital. Mrs. Brown was born March 18, 1927 in Farwell, Nebraska to Louis and Mary Ann (Jelinek) Novak . After graduating from Farwell High School in Nebraska, she helped teach school there in a one-room school house. She came to the area in 1945. In 1965 Marilyn became a dealer for Stanley Home Products and was active in sales up to the time of her passing. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she had taught Women's Bible class and had been a member of Deborah's and Club 55 of the church. She had also been a member of the Hard Scrabble Women's Club that had met at the Elk's Center. Marilyn's husband, Cyril "Jim" Brown, whom she married April 19, 1945 died May 14, 1989. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Kridler, Pamela (John) Leforte and Nancy Petersburger all of Alliance; four grandsons, Bruce, Mark, Stephen and Scott. She also leaves five great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Louis Novak and a grandson, Jeffrey Kridler. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church with The Reverend Timothy Muse officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the church. Private interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
