Marilyn A. Sandru

Marilyn A. (Dowling) Sandru, age 86, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2023.

She was born on August 25, 1936, in Alliance, Ohio, to Marvin and Evelyn (Baker) Dowling.

Marilyn graduated from Alliance High School. She worked as the East Ohio Machinery Office Manager and the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce office manager for 20 years.

Marilyn was a member of the Alliance Christian Center, the Alliance Road Runners, the YMCA and a board member of the Alliance Carnation City Festival. She enjoyed cross stitching, making teddy bears and baking bread.

For 20 years, they made their home in Englewood, Florida. Their family brought them back to Alliance.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Stephanie (Jim) Hartenstein and Holly (Joe) Alfani; grandchildren, Leigh and Kyle Knife, Jared Hartenstein and Christopher Alfani; great-grandchildren, Jameson, Caden, Taryn and Jayden; nieces, Karen and Connie Nimereala; and precious four legged friend, Baron.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband George N. Sandru; sister-in-law, Mary (Charles) Nimereala, and niece, Helen Youtz.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023 at the Alliance Christian Center with Pastor Paul Dykshoorn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alliance/Aultman Hospice, 200 E. State Street, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
