Marion Jay Frederick, age 97, of Alliance, passed peacefully at 3:50 a.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2010 on the farm where he was born surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 26, 1912 at the family farm in Alliance, Ohio to Floyd and Florence Frederick.
Jay was a farmer and a rural route mail carrier. He was a member of the Beechwood United Methodist Church, former member of the Washington Ruritans, the Pioneers Club and the Farm Bureau. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild.
Survivors include his grandsons, Ray (Keri) Steede of Damascus, and Kenny Steede and Larry Steede; great-grandchildren, Amanda (Ryan Hone) Steede, Ryan Steede, Korie Steede, Nicholas Tubbs and Alexandria Tubbs; and great-great-granddaughter, Emma Hone.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary (Meyers) Frederick, who died September 10, 1995; daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Jack Steede and a great-grandson, Raymond Steede.
A private family service will be held Friday, May 21, 2010 with Dr. David Bloor officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Cassaday Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
