Marjorie Jean (White) Nicholas, age 79, of Alliance, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 9, 2009 at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born May 13, 1930 in Shanesville, Ohio to Jesse and Josephine (Walker) Blickensderfer, and lived in Kent most of her life, prior to moving to Alliance six years ago.
A member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Alliance; Marjorie also belonged to the Red Hat Carnation Dazzlers, Merry Widows Breakfast Club, Kent Garden Club, Alliance Garden Club, Sew Happy Quilters, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church Quilter's Guild.
She was an avid bowler, and enjoyed gardening, golf, tennis and Ohio State Football.
Survivors include her sons; Stanley Ray (Patty) White of Cockeysville, MD, Jesse William (Ann) White of Alliance, OH, William Dale (Sheryl) White Jr. of Wabash, IN; step-children, Tammy (Scott) Ernest of Maineville, OH; and Jeff (Nancy) Nicholas of Wadsworth, OH; sister, Norma (Cliff) Haglock of Dover, OH; grandchildren; Amanda (Garrett) Pagon, Meghan (David) Hughes, Stanley White Jr., Joanna (Richard) Waite, Joshua (Bridget) White, Ben (Angela) White, Bethany White, Aaron White, Lydia White, Jacqueline Ernest, Brittany Ernest, Bruce Ernest, Isaac Nicholas and Jacob Zimmerer; great-grandchildren, Blake, Chase, Max and Reese Pagon, Alyssa and Jonathan David Hughes, Logan, Brianna and Kaitlyn Waite, Alyssa, Brady and Lilliana White, and Brandon White; and former husband, Bill White Sr. of Rootstown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Nicholas, whom she married in January, 1984, and who died in 2000; infant grandson, Tyler Jon White; and eleven brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Timothy Muse and Pastor Bill White Jr. officiating.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
