Martha J. Brown age 95 of Alliance died at Alliance Community Hospital at 6:55 p.m. Monday Sept. 8, 2003.
She was born April 26, 1908 in Zeidenbergen, Austria to Peter and Martha (Lahm) Foith. On June 23, 1912, Mrs. Brown arrived in New York at Ellis Island to be with her father who arrived in the United States two years prior.
A graduate of Alliance High School, she was a former member of the Alliance Country Club, Elks Auxiliary, and Women's Group at the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her son, Charles (Helen) Brown, granddaughter Christine (Mike) Hetherington, great-grandson Michael Hetherington, great- granddaughter Kate Hetherington, all of Alliance, and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, her husband Thomas E. Brown, whom she married in May 1930, and who died July 14, 1980, one brother Peter, and three sisters, Irene, Freeda and Rose preceded her in death.
She will be missed by her dear friends and loving caregivers.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Mausoleum Chapel at Highland Memorial Park with Pastor Vernon Russell officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alliance Visiting Nurses and Hospice, 885 S. Sawburg Rd. Alliance OH 44601.
