Martha L. Hundt, age 86, of Sebring, died at 10:52 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2009 at Crandall Medical Center.
She was born September 22, 1923 in Hillsville, Pennsylvania to Lewis C. and Irma (Lindemen) Stark and was a lifelong Alliance resident.
Mrs. Hundt was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for more than 50 years, where she was a member of Club 55 and the Deborah Class. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 296 for more than 60 years. Martha began working at Alliance City Hospital while still in high school, graduated from cosmetology school and worked part-time at Ramsey Florist while raising her family. She was a member of the Alliance Senior Center and had previously volunteered as a Pink Lady at Alliance Community Hospital. She loved to read, paint, and travel with other Alliance friends, and work on crafts. She had a good laugh and could tell a story.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Allen (Paula Best) Hundt of Palm City, Fla; her sister, Iris T. Stark of Alliance and nieces Linda Eddy, Sue Swain; a nephew, Mike Hawley; several nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hundt was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Carl Hundt, whom she married September 22, 1946 and who died April 16, 2007; her son, Stephen Albert Hundt who died July 7, 2005; and two brothers, Lewis R. Stark and Bruce E. Stark.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October, 2, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with The Rev. Timothy Muse of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Friends may call from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Thursday. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
