Martin E. Carpenter, age 86, of Alliance, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Jackson Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center in Canal Fulton.
He was born November 8, 1931, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to Martin and Sylvia Florence (Kilburn) Carpenter.
Martin was employed for more than 29 years at Teledyne Monarch Rubber and also at Alliance Country Club for about 14 years.
He played a lot of baseball in his youth, loved the Cleveland Indians, model trains and traveling, especially to Hawaii. He dearly loved his family.
Martin was a veteran of the United States Army having been a tank driver serving during the Korean War.
His survivors include his wife, Linda Lea (Peppel) Carpenter of Alliance; daughters, Julie (Dan) Connerth and Debbie (Kevin) Goshorn, both of Alliance; grandchildren, Stacie Hawkins of Alliance, Angela McGee of Texas, Alex Mrgan of Missouri; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Hawkins and Ariel Hawkins, both of Alliance and Malachi McGee of Texas.
Martin was preceded in death by his mother, father, and stepfather, Delbert Armstrong.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018, at Marlboro Christian Church. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park at Noon on Friday, April 6.
