Mary C. Hoover, age 79, of Alliance died at 12:20 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at Aultman Hospital.
She was born March 15, 1929 in Louisville, Ohio to Sam and Mary (Rohr) Chenot and was a lifelong area resident.
Mary was a 1947 graduate of Louisville High School and was formerly employed at the ASC office in Canton, Ohio.
She was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Nimishillen Grange, Pamona Grange, 5th Degree.
Mrs. Hoover loved gardening, finding bargains at garage sales and cooking for her family and friends.
She also liked to play cards and the piano, and was very active in visiting people in nursing homes and enjoyed working on the election board every year.
She is survived by her husband Dale L. Hoover of Alliance, whom she married March 10, 1951; children, Shirley (Jim) Slabaugh of Alliance, Roger (Debbie) Hoover of Canton, John (Kathy) Hoover, David Hoover, and Paul (Laura) Hoover, all of Alliance; and Barbara (Kevin) Pucci of CA; grandchildren, Jill, Jenny, Jamie, Ashley, Megan, Mike, Nicole, Brent, Kara Brittney, Paige, Gage and Kennedy; seven great grandchildren; two sisters; Esther Linhart of Louisville and Ruth (Mahlon) Honaker of Wooster.
She was preceded by her parents and one brother, Donald.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Truax of Science Hill Community Church and Pastor Terry Baltzer of Lexington United Methodist Church co-officiating. Friends may call from 4-5:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Science Hill Community Church, 12316 Beeson St., Alliance, Ohio 44601 or to the Lexington United Methodist Church, 15035 Greenbower Road, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
