Mary Cornea

Mary Cornea, age 91, died March 1, 2023 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mary was born March 14, 1932 in Baltimore, MD.

Her priorities were her family and her faith, and her hands were able to work magic when cooking and sewing but especially praying. Mary spent countless hours in service to the Lord, including cooking delicious dinners to help fund and maintain St. Theodore Catholic Church in Alliance.

Mary often worked physically demanding jobs without complaint.  Prayers for the family she dreamed of were answered by a beautiful marriage of 62 years to late husband Miron Cornea, two daughters, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren she was able to see born and grow.

She is survived by daughters Georgeta (Liviu Barcutian), Lucy (Dr. Romeo Craciun); grandchildren, Antonella  (husband Michael O'Brien), Maureen (husband Dr. John Cleator) and Dr. Raymond Craciun (wife Morgan);  great-grandchildren, Lauren (14), Caitlyn (13), Jack (12), Declan (10), Cormac (7), Audrey (4) and Addison (3).  She is also survived by her sister, Helen Blebea of Alliance and her family.

Calling hours will be Friday, March 10th at 6:30-8:30 p.m. with Saracusta at 7:30 p.m. at St. George Romanian Byzantine Catholic Cathedral in Canton.

Funeral services will he held on Saturday, March 11th at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Most Rev. Bishop John Michael Botean, Very Rev. Ovidiu Marginean, Very Rev.  Iuliu Muntean, and Very Rev. Calin Tamian BCC officiating.

Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Alliance followed by a memorial meal at St. George Romanian Byzantine Catholic Cathedral in Canton.
