The best mother a daughter could ever have

Mary Joan Davis, age 92, of Alliance, died at 8:48 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012, at her home.
She was born November 9, 1919, in Alliance, to the former Mayor of Alliance, Gus Graf and Belle (Newman) Graf. Joan lived most of her life in Alliance but she also spent time in Connecticut and New Jersey.
A graduate of Alliance High School and member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, Joan also worked at the former McCasky Register as a secretary. She also worked as a phone operator for various businesses in Alliance.
Joan was a member of the Alliance Elks Club No. 467, being one of the first female members. She was also a former member of the Welkins Club, a 35 year volunteer for the American Red Cross, and enjoyed flowers, trips to Amish Country and dining out with friends.
Suvivors include her daughter, Deborah (Bill) Davis Koch of Boynton Beach, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 30 years, Harold L. Davis whom she married in 1954 and who died in February of 1984; brother, Gus Graf, Jr.; and sister, Rita Adryan.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday October 17, 2012, at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, with Fr. Patrick Manning officiating.
