Mary E. Everson, age 93, of Alliance, passed away at 4:43 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2013, at McCrea Manor.
She was born December 29, 1920, in Paris, Ohio, to David Elmer and Lillian Marie (Sturgiss) Johnson and was a lifelong Alliance resident.
Mary attended Alliance High School and was a culinary artist, employed by the former Bailey Fine Pastries, Sugar Tree Bakery, Thorne's Super Duper Bakery. She was also a self-employed cake decorator.
She was a 50 year plus member of the First Christian Church and taught Sunday school class at the elementary level. She formed the former Happy Hours Cake Decorating Club for Alliance elementary schools, and was a former member of Farm Women's Club and the Quaker Hill Progressive Club.
Survivors include her three daughters, Janet Wogan-Evans of Alliance, Kay Marie Gorfi of Kent and Nancy (Larry) Tobey of NV; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Albert of Alliance, Mildred Smith of Bradenton, NC and Ina (John) Bohm of Sebring; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Eugene Everson whom she married June 14, 1939 and who died November 1990; one sister, Norma Jean Labus; and two brothers, Homer and Russell Johnson.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013, at First Christian Church with Pastor Aaron Phillips officiating. Friends may call from 12 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
