Mary Jean Hines

Mary Jean Hines, age 90, of Minerva, passed away at 11:59 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2015, at her home.
She was born April 29, 1925, in Alliance, Ohio, to Byron Yates and Gertrude (Liber) McCready.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Mary Jean was Salutatorian for her 1946 Mount Union College graduation. She also attended The Cleveland Institute of Art and received her Master's Degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Mary Jean was a member and former president of Tri Delta, member, board member and former treasurer of Trinity Episcopal Church.
Mary Jean was passionate about art and culture. She taught art, specializing in portrait and illustration; gave music lessons, and was an assistant in large scale mural painting in Cleveland.
She was also a member of Coterie and the Alliance Woman's Club, and Entre Nous and Sans Souci Club in Minerva. A very active person she enjoyed figure skating, playing tennis, traveling the world and volunteering as a tutor for the Minerva Library.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Robert Hines, whom she married March 6, 1992; children, Kim (William Leddy) Bissett of Cleveland, Frank Byron Combes of Fallon, Nevada, Randal (Mona) Hines of Austin, Texas, and Dixie (Glen) Reynolds of Blacksburg, Virginia and grandchildren, Douglas (Jane) Hines and Lauren (Ben) Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ross B. McCready; and first husband, Willard Wetmore Combes.
. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2015 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 15th at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1200 S. Union Ave. Alliance, Ohio with Rev. George Glazier officiating assisted by Rev. J. Kip Colegrove. Interment will be at Liberty Cemetery in Minerva.
