Mary (Betty) Horning, age 90, of Alliance, passed away at 6 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2013, at St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville.
She was born September 30, 1922, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Paul and Marie (Harryhill) Deagan.
Mary graduated from Villa Maria High School in 1940.
She was a member of the Regina Coeli Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She and her late husband, Arthur, enjoyed making many quilts to be raffled at the church.
Mary was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a telegrapher during World War II.
Survivors include her son, Martin (Janice) Horning of Alliance; grandson, Matthew (Candice) Horning of Alliance; granddaughter, Katherine (Eric Sams) Horning of Los Angeles, Calif; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Avery, Corie and Andrew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur A. Horning whom she married October 20, 1943 and who died October 29, 2011; and a son, Patrick Michael Horning.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 5, 2013, at Regina Coeli Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Ruggieri officiating. Interment will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Randolph with immediate family.
