Mary Cathleen "Cathy" Murphy, age 76, of Minerva, died at her home at 3:05 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2007. She was born July 1, 1931 in Steubenville, Ohio to Alfred Williams and Elizabeth (Anderson) Williams and lived in the Alliance area for the past 50 years. Cathy graduated from Steubenville High School and attended college in Pittsburgh. She owned and operated the Alliance School of Dog Obedience for over 40 years in the Alliance and Minerva areas. Sam and Cathy are also known for owning Touchstone Kennels. Cathy started the Carnation Kennel Club, and was a member of the Western Reserve Dalmation Club, McKinley Kennel Club, Youngstown All Breed Training Club, Dalmatian Club of America, Purina Pro Club VIP and the Pittsburgh Dalmation Club. She was of the Mormon faith. Survivors include her husband, Samuel Bruce Murphy, whom she married Aug. 9, 1965; three sons, Daniel Mazalic of Minerva, Alfred Mazalic of Augusta, and Edward Mazalic of Canton; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mikey and Eddie, and three brothers, Carl Williams of Westerville, George Williams of Waymouth, Mass. and Alfred Williams of Long Beach, Miss. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with President James Kirk, Youngstown Ohio Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints officiating. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, Alliance, Ohio.
