Mary (Hampu) Nutial

Mary Nutial, age 91, of Alliance, passed away at 8:02 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville.

She was born March 8, 1928, in Alliance, Ohio, to Andrew and Iona (Oancea) Hampu.

A 1946 graduate of Alliance High School, Mary was formerly employed at Alliance Manufacturing for thirteen years as an assembly worker and for five years as a Secretary for Robertson Heating.

Mary attended Alliance Friends Church, was member of the church Friendship Class, and member of BPO Elks Lodge No. 467 Auxiliary.

She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, George W. (Judy) Nutial of Akron and Gary A. (Leigh) Nutial and Greg W. (Patty) Nutial, both of Alliance; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Violet Jorney of Alliance, and Janice Corbi of Columbiana; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Andrew Hampu, George Hampu, and Elaine Harp; and her husband, R. William “Bill” Nutial, whom she married November 12, 1949, and who died January 25, 2016.

Services will be held at 10 a.m.  Friday, March 22, 2019, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Dr. Tom Kinnan officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday (tonight) and one hour prior to the service Friday. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
