Mary C. Samoila, age 93, of N. Canton, left this life peacefully in the home she loved, in the presence of her family, at 2:59 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
She was born June 11, 1917, in Canton, to Paul and Mary (Dan) Cristia and was a lifelong Canton resident.
Mary was employed for many years by the former Wilson Rubber Company in Canton and the former Clicks Department Store in N. Canton.
She was a member of the St. George Romanian Orthodox Church in Canton and a member of the Circle 2 and Credintia Society of the St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church in Alliance.
Mary had a strong faith in God and a life beyond her earthly one. She loved deeply and always put others before herself.
She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, the Rev. Fr. Raymond J. Samoila of N. Canton, whom she married September 16, 1939; two sons, Raymond L. (Ellen) Samoila of Hartville and Richard A. Samoila of the home; three granddaughters, Lisa M. Zona, Kathy L. (Dean) Lipster, and Michelle R. (Doug) Fliger; four great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Lexi Lipster and Kasey and Jake Fliger; a sister, Florence Arnold of Canton; and a brother, George Cristia of Massillon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Nick and John Cristia; and sisters, Victoria Gramoy and Ann Blume.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at St. George Romanian Orthodox Church, 144 30th St. Canton, Ohio con-celebrated by V. Rev. Fr. George Treff and Rev. Fr. Pantelimon Stanciu. His Eminence the Most Rev. Arch Bishop Nathaniel (Popp) will be in attendance. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at North Lawn Cemetery.
