Mary E. Woodward, age 98, of Alliance, passed into her Savior Jesus arms, at 6:05 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2019, at her home.
She was born February 21, 1921, in Alliance, Ohio, to William J. and Mary R. (Karper) Bennett and has been a lifelong Alliance resident.
Mary graduated in 1939 from Alliance High School. She was employed by the former McCaskey Register Company and was the last woman employed there. She retired in 1980 after 25 years with the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services as an interviewer.
Mary was a member of the First Assembly of God and a member of the former VFW Auxiliary Post No. 1036 of Alliance.
She made Mary’s Marvelous Masterpieces and loved to give them to her friends. She enjoyed bowling, dancing and spending time with her family and church family. Mary visited Hawaii on six different occasions.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda M. Braun of Alliance; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; brother, Donald (Jean) Bennett of Alliance; sister, Anne Kennedy of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews. She will also be dearly missed by friends, Norma St. John and Peggy Fabian.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Clyde J. Baum and William H. Woodward; and three brothers, William Bennett, Richard Bennett and Robert Bennett.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Grow officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
