Matilda J. "Tillie" Schuster, age 101, of Alliance, died at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, February 15, 2009.
She was born September 7, 1907 in Camp Run, Pennsylvania to Henry William and Frances (Hughes) Schweinsburg.
Mrs. Schuster was employed as Manager of the Mt. Union College Bookstore from January 1955 through September of 1977. She volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Bank and was active in the Nimishillen Grange. She enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, playing cards, whistling and singing.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty I. Cartwright of Alliance; six grandchildren, Linda (Roger) Lyons, Jill (Bob) Mull, Bruce (Sue) Cartwright, Henry (Brigette) Simmons, Debbie (Gary) Kosa and Jane (Frank) Chernikovich; many great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Schuster; one son, John W. Simmons; two sisters; and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
Services will be held at Noon Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
