Maurice G. "Mo" Lab, age 84 of Roselawn Terrace Nursing Home, died at 10:15 a.m. Jan. 20, 2006 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born July 20, 1921 in Zoarville, Ohio to John Lab and Anna (Knotts) Lab McGhee and lived most of his life in the Alliance area.
He was the former co-owner of Mobill Wheel Alinement with his late wife, Helen. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Mr. Lab served during WWII and the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Marine Corp. He also volunteered with the Civilian Conservation Corp. He was a member of the American Legion Post 166, the VFW Post 1036, Moose Lodge, Guadalcanal Veterans, FOE Eagles 2174, and the Alliance Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include two daughters Darla (Frank) Franko of Mishawaka, Indiana and Tracy (Greg) Schall of Ocoee, Florida, four sons Rick (Patty) Lab, Steven (Jamie) Lab and Dennis (Brenda) Lab, all of Alliance, and Gary (Robin) Lab of Houston, Texas, twelve grandchildren Scott, Jeff and Tom Franko, Stacy Carnes, Kelly Bing, Joshua Lab, Wendy and Ashley Lab, Chris and Megan Lab, Madelyn and Dalton Schall, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons Robert Michael Lab and David Scott Lab, two brothers, Delbert and Curtis Lab, and his wife, Helen B. (Irwin) Lab, whom he married Dec. 30, 1944, and who died Aug. 31, 2004.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
