Maxine I. Manypenny, age 88, of Alliance, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Country Lawn Center in Navarre. She was born July 18, 1924, in Alliance to Noel and Eva Jane (Motherspaugh) Ream and was a lifelong resident of Alliance. A 1943 graduate of Alliance High School, Maxine was of the Methodist faith. She was a homemaker, a devoted caretaker to many children over the years, an accomplished seamstress, and she enjoyed bowling. Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Davidson and Janet (Kenneth) Aberegg, both of Alliance and Jayne (Stanley) Surmay of Massillon; grandchildren, Scott and Philip Aberegg, Amy (Ed) Waggoner, Shannon (Chris) Smith and Stanley Surmay; great-grandchildren, Madalyn and Allison Waggoner, Talan and Bode Smith; sisters, Aileen Brown of Amherst, and Melba Ganslein of Alliance; and brother-in-law Robert (Yvonne) Manypenny of North Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis Manypenny who died December 1, 1959; and brothers, Vere F. Ream and Loy L. Ream. Private family services were held. Interment was at Sebring Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements were by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
