Melvin L. Sweger, Age 76, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 27, 2020.
He was born in Marion, Ohio to Carson Sweger and Dorothy Markino (Bayles) on September 25, 1944.
Throughout his life, Melvin worked as a mechanic, welder fitter and a safety director. He retired as a safety consultant in 2006.
He was a member of Truth Baptist Church. Melvin was also a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a 2002 Honor Bound recipient.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gloria Sweger (McDonald) whom he married on August 1, 1964; his children, Keith (Yvette) Sweger and Jody (Brian) Oyster; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Jim (Amy) Paugh; brothers-in-law, Wayne, Jeff and Terry McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Charles Markino; and step-son, Michael Valentine.
The family would like to thank all those who prayed for Melvin over the last couple of months for his healing.
A funeral service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Saturday, October 3rd at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Roy Teague officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Internment at Highland Memorial Park.
