Michael D. Bach, age 66 of Alliance, died at 9 p.m. Oct. 13, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center.
He was born May 25, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio to DeWitt and Irene (O'Hara) Bach and resided in northern Ohio for most of his life.
Mr. Bach received his B.A. degree in Horticulture and Education from Ohio State University. A lifelong educator, he set up the horticulture program and nursery for Warren Western Reserve and Marlington Schools, in addition to teaching horticulture at Marlington High School.
A member of the Alliance Church of Christ, he was active in service to others. Mike was a member of Lexington Ruritans; P'NA Sportsman's Club Inc., affiliated member of F.F.A. and was a recipient of the Horticulture Teacher of the Year Award from the state of Ohio.
He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, and enjoyed the outdoors, especially horses and fishing. He also enjoyed art and landscaping. Mr. Bach served in the National Guard in 1964.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Shelba (Holden) Bach, of Alliance; daughter, Deborah Rose of Alliance; son Brian (Jean) McAllister of Alliance; two grandsons, Todd Rose and Tony McAllister, three sisters, Linda (Ron) Osborne of Carson City, Nevada, Sue (Jim) Simmons of Grass Valley California, and Joyce (Richard) Brady of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Lowe officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
