Michael V. Rice

Michael V. Rice, age 65, of Beloit, passed away at 11:55 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 10, 1951, in Cleveland Ohio to Earl and Zelda (Icenhour) Rice and was a lifelong area resident.
A 1970 graduate of West Branch High School, Mike was employed in the Sebring potteries as well as a steelworker at the former American Steel/Alliance Castings Company.
He was in the Army Reserves from 1971-1977 serving in Unit 83 ARCOM 8 Inch Howitzer Division based in Akron.
Mike was recently baptized by his brother into the Christian faith.
He was an animal lover who enjoyed the outdoors and riding his Harley. He loved mentoring his grandson, Evan.
Survivors include his wife, Penny (Young) Rice whom he married August 31, 2007; daughter, Heather (Rice) Bell and his grandson, Evan Bell, both of Beloit; step-daughter, Chrisha Poto of Alliance; three brothers, Dave (Bonnie) Rice of Sebring, Jim (Sheryl) Rice of Hanoverton and Dennis (Karen) Rice of Homeworth; sister, Linda (Bill) Melzer of Sebring; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to any local humane society.
