Michael R. Sands

Michael R. Sands, age 65, of Canton, passed away at 8:36 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Aultman Hospital.
He was born August 26, 1951, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Charles R. and Betty (Kelley) Sands.
A graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, Michael, then received his bachelor degree at Mount Union College and played football there.
He was employed as a physical education teacher and football coach at Salem Middle School in Salem.
While at Mount Union College, he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and a resident advisor. He met his wife on their first day of school at Mount Union. He enjoyed many years of biking.
He was a man of the Lord with a positive attitude and a great encouragement to everyone.
Michael is survived by his wife, Karen (Hybeck) Sands, whom he married June 15, 1974; daughter, Kimberly K. Sands; son, Terry Sands; brothers, Gary Sands and Rick (Debbi) Sands; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cheryl Arnett and Tanya Sands.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 3, 2017, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2017 and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
