Mihail Balaban, age 90, of Alliance, passed away at 10:30 a.m., Monday June 1, 2020.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and uncle and was loved by all.
He was born in Prodanesti, Romania on September 5, 1929 to Ion and Maria (Horghidan) Balaban. Mihail served in the Romanian Army (Artillery Division) from 1950-1952.
He was a tailor by trade, and also was employed at American Steel Foundries, retiring in 1995.
Mihail was a member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, and was a Past-President of Church Council, serving 1980-1985.
Survivors include daughter, Mihaela of Cleveland; brothers Ioan, Stefan and Contantin of Romania; nephews Virgil of Columbia SC, Victor and Daniel, nieces Maria, Gabriela and Carmen all of Romania; also nephews Tom of Dearborn MI, John of Brighton MI, Eugene of Girard OH and niece Rodica of Wooster OH.
Mihail is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Silvia (Dan) Balaban, whom he married October 21, 1964 and who passed away August 30, 2018; his son Sorin, a brother and a sister.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2020, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. John Nemes officiating. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 4 at the funeral home with a Saracusta service held at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
