Miriam E. Wendell, age 89, a resident of Alliance since 1943, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on January 22, 2011 at 11:35 p.m.
She was born August 28, 1921 in Verona, Pennsylvania to Mathias and Helen (Scott) Murray.
She was a graduate of Verona High School and Walsh College. Miriam was a teacher at St. Joseph and Regina Coeli Catholic Schools in Alliance for over 15 years.
Mrs. Wendell was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, the Catholic Women's Club, Altar and Rosary Society, past president and life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by one son, William M. (Barbara) Wendell of Hudson; two daughters, Joan Miller of Alliance and Carol (Mark) Rogers of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren, William (Barbara), Andrew, Nicole, Madalyn Wendell, Danny (Fallon), Jordan Miller and Zachary Rogers and two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Jakob.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William G. Wendell, whom she married on February 14, 1942 and who died on November 14, 1987 and one sister, Helen (Murray) Lash.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 663 Fernwood Blvd., Alliance, Ohio 44601 with Fr. Michael Seifert officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
