Morris D. "Moe" Mercer Jr

June 14, 1939 — October 20, 2018

Morris "Moe" D. Mercer Jr., age 79, peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018.
Moe was born June 14, 1939, in Akron, Ohio, to Morris and Grace (Johnston) Mercer Sr.
He was wed to his beloved wife, Carolyn (Hoover) Mercer on November 24, 1965, and enjoyed 52 wonderful years of marriage.
Moe attended Waterloo High School and was employed at Keener Rubber, Bosco Plastics and then retired from Alliance Crane Co. Upon his retirement, he worked part-time as a title runner at Wally Armour Chrysler.
Moe loved taking Sunday drives with his wife Carolyn, bird watching, watching TV, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, James Mercer and Mary Mercer, both of Alliance; two stepchildren, Fonda (Wally) Armour of Alliance and Paul Sharpnack of Youngstown; six brothers and sisters, Trudy (George) Belt, Richard Mercer of Alliance, Larry (Karen) Mercer of Akron, NY, Ester Hurst of Apopka, FL, David (Sue) Mercer of Ravenna and Danny Mercer of Laguna Hills, CA; along with six grandchildren, Kayla Mercer and Wally B. Armour, both of Alliance, Alyssa Armour of Snowmass Village, CO, Abbey Armour of Minneapolis, MN, Zachary Sharpnack and Damien Sharpnack, both of Youngstown. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Moe was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, who passed away July 22, 2018; his parents; sisters-in-law, Brenda and Tess Mercer; and brother-in-law, James Hurst.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018 in the Chapel at Highland Memorial Park with a private entombment to follow.
