Myron Harris

Pastor Myron L. Harris, age 91 of Crandall Medical Center, and formerly of Deerfield, died at 9:15 p.m. Aug. 15, 2006 at Crandall Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 26, 1914 in Harrisburg, Ohio to Lewis L. and Mattie (Maloney) Harris and attended the former Connorville, Ohio public schools. He then completed four years at the former Cleveland Bible College, now known as Malone College.
Pastor Harris resided in Deerfield since 1981, after moving here from Iowa. He was Pastor at Sommersville, Ohio Friends Church for eight years, and retired in 1979 from Northside Friends Church in Grinnell, Iowa after serving for 16 years.
Pastor Harris was a member of the Deerfield Evangelical Friends Church and the Eastern Region of Evangelical Friends Church.
He served with the U.S. Army during W.W.II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, was the recipient of two bronze stars, and was in Pearl Harbor during its bombing.
Survivors include many friends whom his life touched over the past 91 years, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, David Myron Harris, three sisters, three brothers, his wife, Mildred I. Harris, whom he married Sept. 19, 1940 and who died March 17, 2006.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Deerfield Evangelical Friends Church with Rev. Jody Hill and Dr. John Williams officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, in Mount Pleasant, Ohio at 3 p.m. Saturday.
