Nancy E. Craven, age 72, of the Alliance area, passed away at 6:27 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in Canton.
She was born May 27, 1937 in Alliance to Arthur Hazen McGirr and Viva Pearl (Stewart) McGirr and resided in Alliance and the vicinity most of her life.
Nancy was a graduate of Alliance High School and the former Alliance Beauty College. She was a beautician and managed the Beauty Shop at the former O'Neils Department Store.
She was a member of the Bolton United Methodist Church and enjoyed making arts and crafts and attending craft shows. She was a former Cub Scout den mother, member of the former Channel 13 Early Bird CB Club, and the Knox Antique Engine and Tractor Club.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil W. Craven of Paris, Ohio; son, Robert Arthur (Dianna) Penny of Atwater; son, Donald Paul (April) Penny of Paris; daughter, Darcel (Dwaine) Pasco of Paris; son, Charles Richard (Lori) Penny of Bedford, Pennsylvania; son, Craig Allen (Dianne) Penny of Akron; two step-daughters, Patricia Faye (Charles) DeAomd of Orlando, Florida; and Jennifer Ann Reel of Alliance; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Tabetha Lynn Penny; step-son, Thomas E Craven; two brothers, Arthur and Raymond McGirr; and one sister, Florence McGirr.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. David Bloor officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at Highland Memorial Park.
