Nancy K. Johnson, age 67, of Alliance, earned her Angel wings at 11:20 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Aultman Compassionate Care Center in Canton.
She was born November 4, 1944, in Frametown, WV to John and Fannie (Beal) Blake and has resided in Alliance since August of 1968.
Nancy was a 1962 graduate of New London High School and attended Bob Jones University. She was secretary for the Alliance Police Department serving with five different police chiefs in her 36-year career before retiring in 2005.
She was a member of the Alliance Friends Church where she taught Sunday school for 32 years and was a F.R.O.G.S. instructor. She was a member of the Quota Club serving as a past president and was voted Quotarian of the year in 2004.
Nancy loved gardening, being outside, cooking, baking, sewing and collecting angels. She especially loved spoiling her grandson and taking care of her "Boys in Blue".
Survivors include her husband, James Johnson of Alliance, whom she married June 27, 1964; children, Michelle Huth of Alliance and Michael Johnson of North Canton; mother, Fannie Blake; siblings, Barbara (Robert) Ziemer of Florida, Tom (Pat) Blake of Alvin, Tx., Sharon (Bill) Kline of Ashland, Sandy (John) Strickling of Heath, and Joe (Cindy) Blake of Powell; grandson, Noah Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; and brother, Ernie Blake.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Alliance Friends Church with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
