Nancy Kate Oyster, beloved wife and mother, age 75 of Alliance, died peacefully in her sleep at home, May 26, 2006 at 3:10 p.m.
She was born June 13, 1930 in Maryville, TN, to James Lincoln and Margaret (Roberts) Hughes and had lived in Alliance since 1952.
Mrs. Oyster graduated in 1950 from Friendsville High School in Tennessee.
A member of First Presbyterian Church; Nancy was also a member of the Alliance Art Center and Alliance Poetry Guild. She wrote beautiful poetry and enjoyed painting oil pictures.
Survivors include husband Wells Oyster, whom she married March 6, 1952; daughter Dixie Oyster March of Kingstowne, Va.; Son Jeffrey James Oyster of Massillon; four grandchildren and brother Robert Wilks Hughes of Maryville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother James Lincoln Hughes Jr.
Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. William Sadler officiating. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
