Nellie Craig

Nellie C. Craig, age 81, of Alliance, died at 5:52 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Canterbury Villa of Alliance.
She was born November 18, 1927 in Springfield, TN to Jordan Bennett Harris and Cora Violet (Clinard) Harris and lived in Alliance most of her life.
Mrs. Craig was a member of the Alliance Baptist Temple. She was employed at the former Woolworth's Store from 1942 until 1948 and enjoyed crafts.
Survivors include her children, Cheryl A. (Larry) Werstler, Linda D. (Gordon) Powers both of Alliance, Michael E. (Cindy) Craig of Columbiana County, Ronald L. (Kim) Craig of Homeworth, Nancy L. Zuffall of Tampa, FL, Allyson C. Kovacich and Edward A. (Penny) Craig, both of Alliance; 21 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 11 step- great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Craig was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest L. Craig, whom she married on June 11, 1949; brothers, Russell and Robert Harris; sisters, Ethel Underwood and Leota Robertson; and one infant grandchild.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday June 26, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Payne of the Alliance Baptist Temple officiating. Friends may call from 7 - 9 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
