Nettie Mae Johnson, age 71, of Alliance, died at 8:54 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born March 12, 1940, in Alliance, to Frank and Alma (Hawkins) Parks and was a lifelong Alliance resident.
Mrs. Johnson was a teacher at Alliance Franklin Head Start for 40 years. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church where she was an usher. She loved making crafts for all occasions and especially loved her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her three children, Theresa Al-Aroud and Frank Johnson, both of Alliance and Richard (Cherie) Johnson of Canton; two grandchildren, La-Gentrius Johnson and La-Shanda Al-Aroud; ten great-grandchildren; and siblings, Susie (Freddy) Rice of Cleveland, Julian Parks and Veronica Parks, both of Philadelphia, and Shirley Ware of Alliance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Frank Parks, Jr. and Charles Everett Sr.; and one great-granddaughter, Essence Jones
A wake will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at Second Baptist Church with services to begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor L.W. Bolton, III, officiating. Interment will be held at Alliance City Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S. Union Ave., Alliance, Ohio, 44601.
